I loved Jool almost from her first scene, myself. Shikozu's intro, I think, is jarring not only because of the abrupt replacement of Jool (while Jool can be said to have replaced Zhaan, Zhaan was still around in her first few episodes, and they were completely differnt characters) but because it's very...awkward. It's rather like Chiana's introduction, which was "shove in this character everyone is going to clash with and see what happens," whichwas really too heavyhanded. With Chiana, while she became (and remains) my third favorite after Zhaan and Aeryn by the end of season 2, the heavyhandedness and awkwardness of how she was handled early on made it hard for me to warm up to her. With Shikozu, based on this episode, there's the same clumsy character handling, but the writers have improved enough that it doesn't initially turn me off of the character.

Regarding S3 John...well, Talyn!John is when I've liked John best, and Moya!John is when he's been at his most annoying to me. I actually did my best to tune Moya!John out, which was helped by my absolute love of the other characters on Moya. (Chiana, Jool, D'Argo, Pilot. Not so much Harvey.)

Ah Jool was too much for me when she was introduced, it definitely took me a few episodes to get used to her. I can't say much more then that given your warning. As far as Shikozu we can have this conversation at the end of the season as well. XD Sadly much of what I want to say about both is much too spoilery.

I agree about Talyn!John and Moya!John. Other then random moments, Moya!John was such a...I don't want to say a baby, but he was definitely whiny and petulant and 'Why him and not me?!' bratty. So I guess childish works. I liked Harvey at first but then I liked Scorpio a whole lot more before he was constantly in everything. I think Bracka was still in my top 3 at this point (I have such a fondness for loyal through everything possible minions) along with Chiana and Aeryn. I do remember an overwhelming dislike of D'Argo, but I forget why. Hm. After I get the series back from my friends I might have to rewatch it again.

Harvey/Scorpius have just worn thin for me. I thought both worked very well when first introduced, but now they've reached the point of being an ex who won't go away and doesn't realize there's nothing left for him.

That's very interesting about D, because he's the only male character on the show who I both like and am interested in. (I like John, most of the time, but don't find him very interesting, and I find Crais to be one of the most interesting characters on the show, but I don't particularly like him. I'm not convinced Pilot even has a gender, and Rygel and Stark are largely neutral for me, with whether I like or am annoyed by them determined by what's going on at the time.)
