Rectober 2015: Day 14 - Long Fics are The Best Fics
Here is my final recs post from this "challenge"! I can't believe I did not manage to post these in October 2015. But it was still pretty fun.
It took me a while to post this list, but this is what happens when I end up re-reading the fics I rec. As the last category I chose "long" fics, those that have more than 150.000 words. Of course I've read much more fics than those I mention here, but for these I developed a soft spot. So, this time it's four fics in three fandoms!
BABYLON 5

Why I loved it: This is the fic that is pretty special to me, since it's one of the first I've read for this fandom, and among the first that convinced me to actually watch this series. The development of Marcus and Neroon's relationship is... perfect. Just perfect. I love how all the characters and the relationships are written, how the relations between humans and the Minbari are developed, I even love the OCs, who are pretty much brilliant. It's a really amazing, beautiful story and I just HAVE TO recommend it.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Mercenary Hawkeye’s goal is clear: grab a temporary spouse; keep his real identity hidden; get himself and his partner back to the US; forget that whole failed mission ever happened. Unfortunately he gets more than he bargained for when his groom turns out to be perfect… and hiding a few secrets of his own.
Why I loved it: At first I wasn't sure what to expect from this fic, but I ended up having a lot of fun reading it. I love Fake Relationship Turns Real scenarios, and Phil and Clint have to face a lot in this one. There are misunderstandings, people keeping secrets, poor decisions and lots and lots of feelings because it's Phil and Clint. Also, Jasper, Maria, Nick and Natasha are awesome and so are Waarzegster and Basil (the OCs). It's fun. I like it.
PACIFIC RIM

Why I loved it: This is an amazing, amazing series that everyone should read. nanuk_dain is a talented writer and manip artist, and I absolutely love how she approaches the characters and their relationships, how she describes emotions, feelings and everything that is happening. I love how this series is written, and it's one of my favourite fic series ever.

Summary: Herc runs a cafe with a weird name. Chuck is tiny and bratty. Hermann works there. Newt flirts with him a lot and makes questionable choices. Tendo is sassy and not Newt's sidekick. Mako is tiny and not to be fucked with. Stacker wears suits and is the only exception to Herc's distrust of anyone in suits. Raleigh and Yancy might show up eventually.
Axolotl jokes and flirting ensues.
Why I loved it: This is honestly one of my favourite Pacific Rim fics in general. I like coffee shop AUs, I like Hermann/Newton, and I like their slow relationship development, full of misunderstandings, angst, fluff, and hurt/comfort. I like the plotline of this series a lot in general. Also, Tendo is an amazing person who uses Star Trek references, I adore his and Newt's friendship just as much as I love Hermann and Tendo's friendship, I want to hug kid!Chuck a lot and I want to hug Hermann just as much (especially after the accident and everything else that has happened). Also, Aleksis appear and he's great. This fic gave me a lot of feels.
