Which I spent in a listed building in the company of some extremely beautiful men and very silly women (and the other way round) reading through things and singing. Unlike last time something like this happened, I didn't break anything (thank God). Instead, we hatched plans for the CTS's assault oncontribution to Oxonmoot this weekend, by rehearsing Lord of the Goons parts 1 and 2, extracts from The Sound of Mumaks and bits of the radio play readthrough. At one point we had no less than three Bluebottles (hanging on a wall...).
This happened Saturday evening, with a brief rest of 5-6 hours, and Sunday morning and afternoon. I then drove back from Colchester in some haste to turn up for a men's voice service at St Peter's. Harris Holy is the true light, Rose responses with (oddly) the Stone Lord's Prayer, Batten men's voice Mag and Nunc (a wonderful piece - two AATB choirs) and Byrd Ave Maria a 5 (AATBarB) from the Gradualia. And then off to the Jolly Sailor to drink BRAINS. Yep. BRAINS SA. Which was a most excellent pint.
As is to be expected, my throat is rather sore. I'm now mainlining Strepsils in the hope it will go away before (a) Oxonmoot and (b) the Messiah I'm singing solos in in a couple of weeks...
And in recent news, Tim is out of hospital (where he has been in some pain for some time) and, we hope, will be back on Dec alto before too long...
