It's been a tiring, though rewarding, weekend.

The concert went stunningly well; performances of real interpretative merit from everyone, and both band and soloists were kind enough to be nice about the choir. Well, we deserved it, I think. I buttonholed Charles Daniels for a long chat afterwards, at which he revealed himself to be a thoroughly nice chap as well as one of the finest singers of words, and ornamenters, around.

miss_next and my parents watched me in action; her LJ has emphasised the "action". Hey, I was just enjoying myself, all right?

Sunday was a day of wandering around St. Albans at length showing miss_next the touristy bits; this included quite a tiring walk down the hill to the Verulamium Museum and back up again, past all the ducks (and deformed Canada geese :-/). Bizarre moments of the day: ordering Mules Mariner in the Italian restaurant (a dish with a real kick); watching a short video in the museum where a dead Roman explained what had happened to his vertebrae; and listening to Alex, our organist, play a piece we agreed (with him, his fiancée Sophy and Sarah) was called "Quasi Cinis". It was a Pachelbel-esque treatment of Waltzing Matilda, in the minor key...

Just back from John Lewis. Have found interesting pattern for frock coat, which Sarah will make me. Yay. Soon be able to give recitals looking the part, as well as sounding it. Anyone got any ideas where I can get a periwig?

tired, professional, singing, fun
