It was open mic night at UCB last night. I called up a few friends to join me and provide moral support. I put my name in the bucket of truth and waited. They pick a name out of the bucket, then that person goes up and picks the spot they go in. 1st name...not me. 2nd name...not me. 3rd through 9th name. The host pulling the names says, "Alright, we got one spot left, but more than one name in the bucket. Even if your name isn't called, don't be discouraged, we encourage you to stay and support all the comics who go up. Our final comic tonight, and they will be taking the open final slot is...
Conor M!
...So anyway, I sit through the first 9 acts. Most of them were pretty funny. There were two teachers and they had really funny sets. So it comes down to me. I was nervous as fuck! I had my notes in my hand, but I didn't really need them too much. I was getting pretty solid laughs on all my jokes too! At least they seemed solid from where I was standing. I had like two that kinda fell flat, but they still got a laugh or two.
Anyway, my time was up and the music started playing. Wow. What a rush! Some of the other comics came up to me afterwards and said I did a good set. It was amazing!!! I can't wait for the next one. DECEMBER 19! Mark your calendars!!!
