Can we talk for a minute about DreamWorks "The Croods" and "Turbo"?

So by now you may have gone to see "The Croods" are procrastinating seeing it or have decided to pass on seeing it in theaters.

I decided to see it today and it was a descent enough movie. The visuals are nothing we haven't seen before, but the story is rock solid even though it is a fictional, stylized take on pre-modern humans struggle for survival. Eep the teenage cave girl I found very relatable and refreshing. I'll stop right here before I gave away any big plot points for people who haven't seen it.

What I really want to talk about is DreamWorks movie "Turbo".

If you have seen "The Croods" and saw the previews prior to the start of the actual movie then you should know or be reminded that DreamWorks has a new movie coming out called "Turbo". About the only thing I could think during and after watching the preview is, "what the fuck are you doing DreamWorks!?" The story is about a snail who wants to go fast, something none of his snail friends understand. One night while sitting on an freeway overpass he slips and falls into a car engine that is a machine built for speed. On his way out of the engine he is exposed to a bunch of chemicals which some how magically transform him into a snail that can move at speeds rivaling the cars of NASCAR. And toward the end there is something about the snail wanting to race and compete in NASCAR with a narrating voice pointing out how absurd this is--me: yes it truly is.

I suspect most of us knew this was going to be bad, but we didn't know it would be this bad. "Turbo" could potentially be on par with DreamWorks "Bee Movie," which from an image spam post on tumblr I saw a while ago was really bad.

Bee movie image spam, which gives the plot in a nutshell, can be found here:

Get it together DreamWorks.
