I was going to post this yesterday, but I thought I'd already gotten in your faces enough . . .
(*
Advent Calendar prompts right this way!*)
. . . Anyway, I was re-watching the film for one of the challenges I'd like to do, and happened across yet another random observation. (I've not seen it mentioned in the comm before, though I could have just missed it. Apologies in advance if that's the case.)
This time it's about Metro Man's adoptive Earth parents. We all know that, canonically, in the credits they are listed as Lord and Lady Scott (though what, exactly, they are "lord" and "lady" of, I have no idea!). But if we look at the scene where little Metro Baby lands under their Christmas tree, we may get a little hint as to their first names, too . . .
(Warning: Large images!)
Here's a screenshot of Lady Scott "unwrapping" her new bundle of joy. One of the presents beside Baby!Mets' ship has a gift label on it. Of course, it's upside down.
So naturally, For Science!, let's crop it, enlarge it, and flip it 180-degrees . . .
Does that say "To: Bobby From: Sally" with crisscrossed candy canes beside it? Could Metro Man's parents' names have been Robert and Sally Scott? Or was that present meant for someone else? (The nicknames seem rather informal - especially for two people who, judging from from the film, might arguably be considered highbrow, clueless, and distant.)
Perhaps someone with a better copy of the film on their computer can verify. (My good Blu-Ray copy won't play on my laptop, and I had to resort to the ripped version of the film that was already on here.)
In either case, I so love Dreamworks' animators and their eye for detail! :)
