Recycled Movie Lines

Something that came up the last time Megamind was livestreamed for this community is there are certain words or lines that are repeated and recycled.

Roxanne and Hal:

When Megamind reveals his deception to Roxanne and Hal both characters use the root word 'trick' in their verbalized reaction:

Hal: "Ahhh...! You tricked me?"

Roxanne: "[...] tricking me. What could you possibly hope to gain?"

And who can forget the exchange between a disguised Megamind and Roxanne at the Museum. Where we get this line:

Roxanne: “So long as there’s evil good will rise up against it.” (Without referring to the movie I think this line is correct.)

Later on in the evil lair we get this line from Megamind:

Megamind: “Minion, I am a villain without a hero: a yin with no yang, a bull fighter with no bull to fight, in other words I have no purpose.”

Fast forward to the school house of solitude:

Music Man: “You know little buddy. There is a yin for every yang. If there’s bad…good will rise up against it.”

And after thinking about the actual words Megamind and Hal use these quotes have nothing in common except the emotion and sentiment behind them...

Megamind: “ [...] It’s nothing personal just brings back too many painful memories.”

Hal/Tighten/Titan: “Hey Metro losers, this is Metro Tower. It is supposed to be a symbol of our city’s strength, but for me it is a reminder of the time this woman ferociously ripped out my heart and I HATE reminders.” (Not sure that I got this quote 100% correct.)

What I am wondering is, how much of this was deliberate to draw a comparison between the shared sentiment, similar phrasing of words and the characters actions. And how much of this might have been laziness on the part of the writers.

you know you're obsessed when . . ., character: metroman/musicman, character: roxanne ritchi, character: megamind, discussion: nitpicks
