So today is an exciting day.   Because sharelle just finishing betaing the last chapter of this story!   Updates should be coming more frequently now, with only two more chapters and a epilogue to come after this before we are done!   I almost can’t believe it!

Yes, the story doesn't end until after the events of the movie, but as you can guess, reconciliation is going to be a hard thing after all that's happened....

Another great chapter! I love how the Warden still privately refers to Megamind as "his boy" like he still feels that connection despite everything that's happened. And you've provided a pretty good reasoning for the Warden keeping the watch and all that.

Thanks! I think he would always feel that connection, but he is a very private man.

My heart beat faster when I realized this was it. The breakout scene from the movie. I really liked hearing the warden's suspicious thoughts about the watch. "Then when it transformed into a mechanical lemur or started projecting holographic spiders on the walls at least he would be the first to know" has got to be the best line.

The start of this chapter was really pretty funny (at least to us readers!) It's great how you spliced together movie lines with the warden's thoughts and feelings...and then it all gets dark. I feel so bad for the warden. How he didn't really believe Megamind could ever really hurt anyone. How he had that little sliver of hope that one day his little boy would change his ways. And now, his baby is a murderer. It's so heartbreaking.

Yeah, that is one of my favorite lines too. It cracked me the fuck up when I wrote it and just about every time I worked on this chapter.

Now that we have really hit the events of the film there is more space for levity, but yeah the second half of this was a bit of a punch to the gut.
