Comparing and contrasting Megamind and Darkwing Duck.

I was at a local comic book store the other day and found a new series of 6 graphic novels for the Disney series Darkwing Duck, (my favorite of the Disney Afternoon toon shows of the 1990's) and I remember reading a post here a long time ago that someone who worked on DW also worked on Megamind. I can sure see the evidence in both stories in the similar types of humor and flair for the dramatic presentations! ^_^

Still, the contrast made me think. Darkwing is an average, normal-looking guy in his world, with a hidden super-crime-solving self inside. Megamind, on the other hand, looks dramatically different than the humans around him and yet, culturally and emotionally, he is no different from any of us,(were one of us to have been born with super intelligence, a strange appearance, and raised in a prison). He reacts the same way as we do when happy, sad, startled, or angry, even though as an alien he ought to think quite differently than us, or feel emotions differently, or maybe not 'feel' at all. Yet for all intents and purposes, he's human inside.

I like the idea of Megs and DW being on opposite sides of the same coin-one whose uniqueness is wholly within, the other whose main difference IS his appearance.
