The axe swung and embedded itself securely into the creatures head. Groaning in reaction, the white eyed horror's head jolted backwards yet its arms continued to raise. The nails, green, rotted, disgusting and diseased continued to claw forward.
A shot gun was fired, and brains splattered across a wall and ceiling as another monster fell to its knees and succumbed to its brain finally being shut off.
Screams filled the air, accompanied by the groans of the walking dead. Those not fast enough or quick enough to run and defend were preyed upon. It was just as nature intended. The weak suffered, died, so the strong could live.
"This is madness, complete and utter madness. Just, just how in the world...?" Roxanne asked as she sat behind a control panel, and suspended before her were monitors that illuminated the darkened room.
"It just keeps spreading." said a voice behind her, a woman's voice. "It's insane, that's what it is."
"So this is how the world ends, is it?" Metro Man, Wayne Scott, whatever it was you wanted to call him, said gravely as a hand pressed against the back of Roxanne's chair. "Just like the movies said."
The trio stood, or sat, before the monitors before the door behind them was kicked open and a skinny, large headed, blue skinned alien known as Megamind stood there. He was wearing a lab coat and he was quickly joined by a taller, even skinnier man with a skin tone that made most feel highly uncomfortable.
Sickly purple was not a fitting choice of skin color for anyone and Psycho Delic knew it.
"They're telling people to evacuate." Megamind said gravely.
"And what if there's more of them waiting out there?" Lady Doppler, a woman with long white hair tailing down past her knees, asked as she turned, looking at the two men. Her white, iris-less eyes seemed to bore into both Megamind as well as Psycho Delic.
"Those leaving may very well just kill themselves." Metro Man said, with a frown. "There's no rescue for this coming. They're everywhere."
"We can't stay here." Megamind insisted, rushing up to Roxanne and took her hands into his. "We can't stay. The city's infested, we have to move."
She looked over her shoulder at one of the monitors in time to see a man point his own gun at his head, and blow his brains out. His blood stained the walls, and the monsters feasted on his remains all the same.
Slowly she looked back at Megamind, and gave a stiff nod of her head.
Moving was the only option now, and they all knew it to be true.
Metro City was lost.
