The Nineteenth Chapter of my Megamind and Wicked Cross. Granted this chapter is mostly from the Wizard of Oz
Chapter Eighteen Chapter One **********************************************************************************************
Megamind couldn’t figure out why the old lady thought he was her eldest son, particularly since it seemed implausible for it to be based on appearance. It seemed the woman must have been nearly blind as well as senile; however, since she was the only living member of the royal family and she had named him as her successor before her passing … he was now the leader of the Vinkus. Now the title of Wicked Warlock of the West seemed more fitting, but molding into that title was never one of his goals.
He had come to the Vinkus, not to govern, but to apologize to the old woman. For she was Roxanne’s grandmother and only living relative and what had happened was his fault. However, no matter how much he tried to explain this, it seemed she had no idea what he was referring to … he wasn’t sure if she still remembered who Roxanne was.
Minion had come to be with him, offering much needed company. However, he did fear that spending time with him would be the end of Minion. It seemed everything Megamind touched fell apart around him, why should Minion be any different? However, he had spoken of Norman enchanting his own ring in order to walk.
Megamind had decided to visit his brother, a visit that had not gone so very well. However, his brother had promised that upon his death that ruby ring would belong to him. Why Megamind wanted it, he could only really guess. Perhaps he still saw it as the approval of their late father who so clearly favored Norman.
Soon after, something unthinkable happened. He felt it like a horrible pain … something had happened to Norman. Although he had a troubled relationship with his brother, he could still feel the pain. He grabbed a small bag of magic powder that was meant to teleport an individual to the place the person thought of when they threw it.
So he threw it and arrived in the middle of Munchkin Village, causing so many of the villagers to scatter and hide … screaming as they did so. He looked around to where he had known his brother would be and he was there … under a house, dead. “Who did this?” he looked around at the villagers, “Who killed my brother?”
It was then he heard the squeaky voice of a young girl, “I thought you said he was dead”
He turned to look at her, she was perhaps around twelve and stood next to Glimmer who replied to her, “That was the Wicked Warlock of the East, this is the Wicked Warlock of the West, and his brother … he’s even worse than the other one” Glimmer had a strange smirk on his face, as though he was enjoying this encounter
Megamind pointed to the girl, “So it was you … you did this?”
“No! It was an accident!” she shrieked in a shrill voice, with a strange loud yapping creature standing by her heels.
“Accident?” how does one accidently drop a house on someone? Even in bizarre sorcery practicing scenarios, it seemed unlikely to have been an accident. He gritted his teeth, “I can make accidents happen too”
“Aren’t you forgetting something” Megamind blinked at Glimmer’s interruption, “The ring?”
Of course, the ring … it would be his now, but how did Glimmer know about that? “Yes, of course” he stepped back over to a single hand peeking out from under the house, yet he hesitated. It was hard to reach down and take a ring off of your dead brother’s hand … however; it seemed he wouldn’t have to as the ring disappeared along with his brother’s hand. His eyes widened as he turned around and glared at Glimmer, he was playing a trick on him … like they were back at shool or something. What was wrong with him? “What have you done with it?”
Glimmer grabbed one of the girl’s hands and held it so Megamind could see, “Here it is and here it will stay” He felt his heart stop for a second. Had Glimmer gone mad? Why had he given this piece of his brother to the treacherous shrill girl who had murdered him?
“Why you … I’ll …” he felt his words stuttering at his shock and horror
“You’ll what?” Glimmer raised a brow, “You have no power here” it was true, with Glimmer there Megamind was grossly outmatched, “Now be gone, before someone drops a house on you too”
He looked up for a second before realizing that Glimmer was still taunting him, he gritted his teeth and looked at the little girl who his old friend had turned against him for, “I’ll get you” he narrowed his eyes, looking down at the yapping creature by her ankles, definitely not an Animal “and your little dog too” then he began what he considered an evil cackle before throwing down another handful of his magic powder teleporting him back to his tower in the Vinkus.

Megamind decided to follow her along the yellow brick road, keeping a good distance on his jetbroom. He noticed, however, in Quadling Country she had approached the forest to the talking trees. She watched as the scarecrow, that appeared to be a female, showed her a clever way to anger the trees into giving them apples. Strange that a scarecrow who claimed to be brainless would be able to think of clever things like making trees throw the apples at them.
Then the girl noticed a tin man rusted solid and the two of them worked to make him move again. He spoke of how the wicked warlock of east had enchanted his axe to chop off his limbs so that he couldn’t escape from his grasp to be his beloved. Apparently, this tin man had been close to a tinsmith who had replaced each piece of him as the axe chopped them off, forgetting to replace one most important piece … his heart. So that in the end, he was no longer capable of loving the woman he had been so desperate to be with. He had come too late to hear the whole story of the scarecrow, but found that he would have probably been more interested in her story than this Quadling tin man who called himself Hal.
He swooped down onto a roof of a small shack nearby them, all three of them looked up at him and he smirked at them, “Helping the young lady out, I see” He put one hand on his hip, trying to appear intimidating to this strange group of travelers, “Stay away from her! Or …” he looked at the scarecrow and noticed then her large blue eyes and paused before a soft smile graced his lips, “I’ll make a mattress out of you”
Then he shook his head to stop thinking, he was going insane, most definitely. He looked at the tin man, “and I’ll use you for a beehive” they just looked up at him with their wide eyes. He needed to do something … to scare them. “Hey Scarecrow, want to play ball?” He conjured up a fire ball and threw it near the scarecrow, missing her by about a foot. It seemed to have the desired effect, having the tin man kneeling down and putting out the fire with the tin hat he took off his head.
However, the scarecrow seemed to have stepped back at first, but she just looked up at him unafraid, just titled her head with a curious expression. He let out an evil cackle before jumping on his jetbroom and flying off into the sky. He was fully intent on continuing to watch this girl and attempting to thwart her in whatever way possible. He needed to have that ring.
