The fifteenth Chapter of my Megamind and Wicked Cross

Chapter One
Chapter Fourteen

**********************************************************************************************
It had been five months since Lurlinemas, the last time Megamind had kidnapped Roxanne or even tried any kind of plan throughout all of Oz. She wasn’t sure what he was doing but was beginning to worry. How badly had that book affected him? So much so that he had to take five months off … and how many more months was he going to be absent?

Was he planning something? Why didn’t he contact her? She fidgeted in her seat at the coffee shop that she had grown accustomed to coming to every morning even though she hadn’t seen him in these last few months. What could be so urgent he would want to stop donning his old disguise to come buy pastries?

Then she noticed something whizzing passed the window she was staring out of … one of his brainbots … holding something. She stood up and ran out of the shop, where was it going? It was above everyone else and going at quite a high speed but she managed to keep it in her site and she chased it in a rather public display of pursuit. She should have been more careful, but she didn’t care about drawing people’s attention, she just wanted to find him.
She finally found the building it had gone into, leaving a third story window open. She tried to open one of the lower windows, but they were all locked, no doubt he had started that habit after his first break in. She looked back up to the window on the third story, it was still open … the outside walls of the building were made of a rather uneven laid brick, probably a rather old building. She could probably climb up there if she really tried, being raised in the Vinkus she was surprisingly more agile than many other citizens of Oz … many would fall in this attempt. She, however, did not.

She climbed into the window after her difficult climb, looking around, hoping that she hadn’t mistaken the building. Then she noticed some brainbots flying by in another room and let out a relieved sigh, she was in the right building and hadn’t wasted all that effort. She allowed herself to catch her breath before standing up and heading into the room where she heard a lot of shuffling around.

There stood Megamind, writing stuff on boards and papers, throwing stuff around that was being caught by brainbots and hung up from strings on the ceiling. She took another step forward onto a creaking floorboard that made him freeze and then turn to her, “Princess, I don’t have time for you right now. Please go back to wherever you came from”

Then he just turned around and started writing things down again, she blinked. That was it? He didn’t really care that she had broken in again? She stepped in further and sat down on a box while he continued to work, for some reason not noticing that she had chosen to ignore his request. That is, until around an hour later when he started walking toward the box she was sitting on and froze again, “I thought you left”

She looked up at him, a little more tired after sitting in one spot for so long, “Why would I just leave?”

“Why would you stay?”

She sighed and crossed her arms, “I wanted to know what you’ve been up to and if I have to wait until you’re done with whatever you’re doing, I’ll wait.”

He sat down on the box next to her, “If you must now, I am formulating a plan”

“About?”

“That’s confidential information, there are other people involved and telling someone who is not in the group what we are doing is strictly forbidden”

“You’ve joined a group?”

“Yes, and if you don’t mind I would much appreciate you leaving now”

“I’m not leaving until I find out what you’re up to” she smirked

He tapped his fingers along the edge of the box, “If you refuse to leave now, I will be forced to hold you captive” that sounded much more threatening in his head

She blinked, “So … you’re going to make me stay because I won’t leave?”

He stood back up, maybe looking down at her would assert some form of dominance, “Yes, princess, so if you do not wish to be at the mercy of my supremely handsome and evil clutches, I suggest you flee for safety.”

She crossed one leg over the other, “Not a chance, I’m not afraid of you, Megamind. I want to know what you’re doing and you’re going to tell me”

“Not this time, princess” He looked over his shoulder, “Brainbots; lock her up” His brainbots faithfully complied. Picking her up and carrying her off, despite her protests. They were taking her to a room he had made in this building in case of robberies or a need to interrogate someone. A holding room, she’d have to stay there for a night, after that she’d want to leave him alone. Then he could get back to his business. He needed to complete this uninterrupted and she was definitely capable of interrupting him and ruining it … nuisance she was.

Roxanne was put into a room with bars; it was like some kind of cell. There was some kind of straw or hay on the ground; if she had to stay here she supposed she could kick it into a pile in order to make a kind of bed. She sighed, this was going to be a long night … but at least she was still going to know where Megamind was in the morning.

She sat down on the pile of straw she had kicked together and crossed her arms. She was going to find out what he was up to, she had to. There was this undeniable and uncontrollable curiosity inside of her, and it wanted to know this. She slanted her eyes, Megamind would tell her before anyone else … he just had to.
