Chapter five of my Megamind and Wicked cross.
Chapter one Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four ********************************************
Bernadette was in the girl’s library collecting some books about Animals, in exchange for meeting Galimer she was helping Megamind help Doctor Dilamond with his research in some kind of conspiracy against Animals. Apparently animals had the same DNA as Animals and also the same as humans, or at least that’s what Doctor Dilamond, the Goat professor of Biology, was attempting to prove through his research.
It was actually quite astonishing the things she had learned about what the supposed wonderful Wizard of Oz was doing in concern to the Animals, those who had the ability of consciousness. He was stripping them of their rights, their professions, and their dreams. They were being forced to live the lives of animals, which were quite different lives as animals didn’t speak or think like Animals. He was even going so far as to burn the parts of their minds in charge of speech, claiming it turned them into only animals.
Bernadette was helping by allowing them access to some books that weren’t in the main or boy’s libraries, she wasn’t sure why they had separate girl’s and boy’s libraries, but they did. She really hoped that Megamind would tell her that Galimer had agreed to meet her this time. It had already been a week since the agreement, almost the end of the school year, and she had grown quite attached to Galimer.
She had resisted spying on the boy’s locker room; she had never found Galimer there anyway. She sighed as she waited to check the books out. Once she had, she headed down the hall to the main library to meet Megamind.
Once she saw Megamind, she could feel her hands shaking; she really hoped Galimer had agreed to meet her. She walked up to him and put the books on the table, “Hello, Megamind”
He looked up at her, “Ollo, Bernadette, I see you found the books I asked for” he smiled as he turned the books toward him.
Bernadette raised an eyebrow, she supposed it shouldn’t be too strange for him to mispronounce certain words; he didn’t really look like the type who had a large amount of social contact. She sat down, “So, did you talk to Galimer?”
He put the books in his bag, then looked back up at her, “Yes, I did”
“What did he say?” She sounded a little more desperate than she intended to, “I mean, did he agree to meet?” there, that sounded a little better
Megamind smiled, it was annoying to Bernadette how much he smiled, “He agreed to meet tonight”
Bernadette looked herself over in the mirror one more time, making sure her outfit was wrinkle free. Her hands were shaking again, she hated how nervous she was, and she adjusted her glasses yet again. Then she turned and left, heading out toward the vegetable patch, it was almost midnight, and she was surprised the meeting was to happen at such a late hour.
She had spent so much time choosing her outfit, her hairstyle, her make-up, and tried to decide on some things to say. She really wanted this to work out; she really wanted to be able to be in Galimer’s life. She could just envision his hands on her waist, his lips against hers, his hot breathe against her neck … he was so delectable, so handsome.
She walked out into the vegetable garden; surprised to see that both of the boys were there, she was hoping Galimer would be alone, “Hello”
Galimer looked over at her, unsure, “You wanted to meet with me?”
“Yes, but would you mind if we talked in private?” Bernadette asked hopefully
Galimer looked over at Megamind, then back at Bernadette. He really didn’t want that, after all, that was why he had asked Megamind to come along. What if someone found them? He certainly didn’t want them to see him alone with Bernadette! “I would really prefer if Megamind stayed”
Bernadette nodded, obviously disappointed, but she wasn’t going to argue with him. No, that was the last thing she would do right now, she wanted so badly for this meeting to work in her favor, “Very well, I just wanted to tell you … I wanted to tell you … I wanted … I …”
“Spit it out already” Megamind interrupted
Bernadette sighed, “I wanted to tell you that I … admire you”
“When she says ‘admire’ she means she really, really likes you” Megamind smirked
“I thought I was supposed to be talking to Galimer” Bernadette snapped out of annoyance, that was the second time he had interrupted her. When Megamind sat back and looked as though he was going to stop, she continued, “You are like the … the sun of my day. You are like the trees to my forest”
Megamind leaned in to Galimer, “This sounds scripted to me”
Galimer put his hand to his forehead and sighed, why was this happening to him? He looked up at Bernadette, “Look, I’m very flattered and I’m sure you’re a lovely girl. Yet I’m a prince, heir to the Gilikinese and I’m looking for someone of equal prominence”
“Oh,” Bernadette’s face fell, “Well … maybe we could just be friends” she suggested hoping that if Galimer got to know her, he might change his mind and take her even though she had no particular importance.
“I … can’t think of a reason why not?” he looked over at Megamind desperately, why couldn’t he have a faster wit like Megamind? Then he would be able to think of a reason, “At least, only in more private times, not in front of people”
“Of course, of course I understand that” maybe one day that could change, “I just want to get to know you”
It was true, of course, she did want to get to know him, but she hoped so much that one day she would be able to be with Galimer. He was so handsome, so heroic, so good, so strong, and simply so … perfect! How could anyone doubt the goodness of Galimer? Not that anyone did.
