This is the Fourth Chapter of my Megamind Wicked Cross.
Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three*****************************************************************
Galimer came back into his room, there was Megamind working on some kind of machine. He sighed, those tik-tok monstrosities had always made him so uncomfortable. Maybe the rumors were true, it wasn’t hard to believe him to be wicked; just to look at him was to believe it.
He put his bag down by his bed and Megamind looked up at him, “Someone’s been looking for you”
Who had Megamind been speaking to? The thought of this creature embarrassing him in front of his friends was hard to take in, “Who?”
“Bernadette” Megamind smirked
“You mean that little munchkin girl, why would she be looking for me?” He shuddered at the thought; she was one of the only students, besides Megamind, who he really didn’t want to be in the company of.
“I think she likes you”
“Who doesn’t?” it came out quickly, and then he realized that it sounded wrong. “I mean, I’m sure she’s nice, but she doesn’t have any importance or nobility. I need someone with … with…”
“With a throne to inherit?” Megamind guessed
“Well … yes, I want to be someone important. In order to be important, I need to be with someone who is also important, do you understand?”
“Not really, but I don’t want to be the one who has to let her down”
“You shouldn’t have encouraged her”
“I didn’t, she did that all by herself. I simply said that since I share a room with you I would attempt to talk you into meeting with her”
“Are you serious? You want me to meet with her?” The very thought was mortifying
“In the vegetable garden by the kitchens, it’s usually abandoned so it’s very unlikely you’ll be seen by anyone. We could go there late, as well, so it would be even less likely to be seen” Megamind replied, as though he knew exactly what Galimer was worrying about.
“Why should I?” he crossed his arms in front of his chest
Megamind raised an eyebrow, “I thought you were Galimer the good hearted, I’ve heard you care about how other people feel … maybe I was wrong” he turned his attention back to his machine
Was that what it was to be good? He had to care about other people’s feelings even when it was completely mortifying to him? He let out a long sigh, “Fine, I’ll meet with her”
Megamind turned around with a smile, “I’m sure that will make her happy”
“I … no one will see us?”
“No one”
“Will you come with me?” He couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth, but, “I really don’t want to have to be with her alone” if someone did come across them, with Megamind there perhaps he could pretend he had just accidently come across the two of them talking.
Megamind nodded, “Of course”
Galimer was walking down the hall when he heard some kind of screeching. He went over to the sound; it was five large boys throwing rocks at Megamind, calling him wicked and monstrous. Of course, Megamind was wicked and monstrous so he didn’t see a reason to interfere. That was how things had been going lately, but he suddenly remembered what Megamind had said to him the day before … Galimer the good hearted.
Was he supposed to care about Megamind’s feelings? He went over, “What’s going on?”
Megamind looked at him with a quizzical look, blood on his lip and forehead.
“This creature” One of the boys replied, “bumped into me”
“I didn’t mean to, I was reading”
“A lie, of course, do you think he can really read?” one of the other boys said
“Why would he want to bump into you?” Galimer asked the boy
“I don’t know, maybe he needed physical contact in order to initiate a curse on me”
“I can see your point” Galimer looked at Megamind, “with such monstrous features; he has the face of a villain”
“More than the face” the second boy stated
“Nevertheless” Galimer continued, unsure if he wanted to, “If we are to be good people, we must show goodness in our hearts, correct?”
“What do you mean?” the first boy wondered
“I mean that if we are to be good people, we shouldn’t go around stoning people who may or may not have done something on purpose. If, and this is a huge if, it was an accident, then you are throwing stones at an innocent. A good person doesn’t do that, as I am Galimer the good and your story is that you are throwing stones at a student unprovoked, it would be my duty to report you.”
“Unless?” a third boy asked
“Unless you promise me you will always make sure your actions are properly provoked, then, and only then, I will let this be unreported.”
All of them looked at each other, and then the first boy looked at Galimer, “I promise I will never again begin to stone someone who bumps into me when I am unsure if it was on purpose. If there is even the slightest chance that it was an accident, I will, from now on, treat it as such.”
Galimer smiled, “That’s what I want to hear”
Then the five boys hurried away. Megamind gathered his things and stood, he looked over at Galimer, “Why did you do that?”
“You reminded me of something yesterday, being good means caring about other people’s feelings. I know I’ve been letting them hurt you previous to this, maybe even joining in, but I’m not going to anymore.”
Megamind raised an eyebrow, why would he change so dramatically? “All this change because of something I said?”
Galimer shrugged, “Most of the time I don’t really think about what I’m doing, but you made me think about it.”
Megamind smiled, it was a nice thought that he could make someone think. He could turn a thoughtless person into a thoughtful one, “Well, thank you for being a good person”
“You’re welcome” Then he looked around, as though he was just realizing what he was doing, “Don’t get the idea this means you can talk to me in public”
“I wouldn’t dream of it” Megamind replied as he watched Galimer rush away; hoping nobody important had seen him talking to the blue student.
