Fat-Free Cookie - Rain on the Just

Ollo, all! I'm heading out of town today (Finger Lakes Wine Country!), but I didn't want to completely miss out on contributing to the Megaversary! So here is just a very small preview of the next chapter of Rain on the Just. (Another "Fat-Free Cookie" that doesn't give a lot of plot points, but offers a little glimpse into where the story is ( Read more... )

mmmmm. Meltyness. This describes her feelings so perfectly. She knows he will come, but of course she would be anxious. Also is Owen holding them in an abandoned zoo? God Metro City has a lot of abandoned tourist attractions.....

Thanks, Dani dear! I'm glad you liked it, even though it was just a little moment between the action. I hope the rest of the chapter makes you just as happy! :)

And yes, for a place that builds superhero museums and erects towers to be "symbol[s] of [the] city's strength," Metro City does have a lot of abandoned buildings. (Observatories, factories, warehouses, that random highrise where Titan and Megs crashed down to the ground floor, etc.) So I figured there would be others, too. My version of the (deserted) Metro City Zoo is actually modeled after the old, local zoo in my hometown. (Though the building is still there, it's been closed for years. It was even once voted the 4th worst zoo in the U.S.) It seemed perfect! :)

Eeep! So looking forward to this chapter! Poor Megamind, I can only imagine how devastated he is right now.

Thanks so much! (I know, poor Megs! Although Roxanne isn't aware of the reason for his delay yet, we are. Which sort of makes it worse!)

It does indeed! Here Roxanne is, certain everything will be all right and Megamind will be coming soon, and he's heart broken in his lair, probably hasn't even noticed anything is amiss yet. (aside from minion, lol)

Thank you, Aura! *HUGS* I'm looking forward to sharing more as well! (I'll be happy when I'm finally completely satisfied with it, but at least I got to post a little bit.)

Oh you Sharelle, you just had to tease us XD

I understand what you mean about wanting to get a fic just right, but you know we'll love it! I'm very intrigued by this snippet, and I have to echo dani-kin: are they in a zoo? It would certainly be fitting - proper supervillainous showdowns usually take place in some grand public location (which usually gets creatively and gratuitously trashed by the end XD)

Can't wait to see the rest of the chapter!

I know, I'm so sorry it was only a tease! But I am beginning to feel more and more satisfied with my incessant tweaking. So hopefully I can share more of it soon!

And, good eye! As I told Dani above, the zoo for the final showdown is based directly on one that used to be open in a park here where I live. (In my mind, it looks exactly like it, too - abysmal conditions and everything!)

God, I can't wait for this chapter to get posted!

Poor Roxanne. Anxious waiting has to be one of the most painful experiences in the world.

Yay! Thank you! I at least wanted to prove that I was still working on it. I hope to have a more substantial offering before too long!

Roxanne is certainly very anxious right now. She did her best to leave a trail for Megs to follow, but can't understand why he hasn't followed it yet. Which makes her situation even harder!
