They can be measured though. For example, I can say my love for the spider outside my bedroom window is less than the love I have for Ashley. That's still measuring my emotion of love, or are you saying I love the spider as much as I love Ashley, and it's impossible to love her more? :x
But for clarification, I should have said you can't accurately compare the emotions of two people. (Exceptions being contrasting emotions.) People express affection in different ways.
Although, the fact that you jumped to compare your feelings for her to those for the spider worries me. =O
A bad example, I'll admit. However, I still think think emotions can be measured to some extent, and you can say you love someone more than someone else does. I mean, my mum loves my dad more than I do. Fact. Or...?

Contrasting emotions need not apply?
If A and B love C, A and B's affection can't be accurately compared to each other.
If A loves C, and B hates C, they have a contrasting emotion towards C. It's like comparing a positive and a negative.
