I just read the funniest poem ever. I love Yakamochi.
あな醜 Oh, how ugly!
さかしらをすと Those who spit out wise words
酒飲まぬ but do not drink the wine;
人をよく見ば as I look at those people
猿にかも似む oh how they resemble monkeys!
Hahahaha well my translation's not that great but the Japanese is just so funny. This is why I love the Manyoshu, the poems are so down to earth. I literally laughed out loud when I read this poem for a good five minutes. It's definitely the new favorite.
