I like that I sort of have a thesis icon (those two dudes are in my thesis, though they're really not main characters at all. Though I'm kind of planning a thing with them after the thesis story for my storytelling class....so yeah)
ANYWAY, since my life is essentially working on thesis for the next week that I've got off from school, I thought posting about it would make me feel better about the whole thing. Also I like seeing progress stuff from other people, maybe anyone reading this might think this is interesting?
Last night I was inking figures on the latest pages:
This is actually what it looked like before I got started; I'd inked the faces and hands and words in nib last week. I was inking the rest of the figures in brush last night. Tonight I'll be inking all the backgrounds with nib (I tried doing that first and it worked out badly for me....)
My pencils are on bristol, but I've been inking from onto watercolor paper on a light box, since I'm watercoloring everything. This is a little insane for thesis, but it's turning out pretty well! It takes longer than I'd like, though, and it's nearly impossible to correct things, I have to either start over (which I really only do when it's early on or especially terrible, since I'm having to hustle right now) or make it work somehow. Thankfully I've managed to get blots of ink in places I was going to put areas of black multiple times now.
The tape is half to help me ink the panel borders and half to keep the paint from going all over the place later on.
I got four pages of just figures inked last night
the other little thing was a practice doodle of one of the characters....I might get around to finishing it more as I warm up for each batch of things...
I actually like drawing people most of everything, but on about page 3 I wised I'd been inking them with the g-nib I recently got, I'm kind of terrible about destroying brushes, and that nib gives pretty clean lines and has some flexibility to it....I guess next time I'll do that :/
I guess I've got to get back to working on this now, it's just that I hate backgrounds and am pretty annoyed with how everything kind of turns out not as good as I wanted it...and it's too late to really fuss over it. I guess that makes it a little easier to get going, but.....
anyway, I'll leave you with my current break-time-after-each-page activity:
heck yes I am excited for the new games.....which I won't let myself play untill april...
