Curisoa 2004

Saturday of course was Curiosa, ended up practically giving away the extra ticket. I guess my loss is someone else gain, $10 for reserve isnt bad at all. Jerry and I left around 2:30 or 3, stopped my New Amsterdam to meet some friends and knowck back a drink. We headed over to Smirnoff around 4. In all my years of concert going i have avoided that place simply because of the price gouging. I'm seriously surprised no one has sued who ever runs that joint. They dont let you bring a damn thing in, then have the nerve to charge triple what you would outside. I'm surprised they even provided water fountains. The only thing i ate while i was there was a hot dog, i refused to pay waht they were asking for food otherwise. A lot of people there were plunking down $8 for crappy beer. I myself have paid more then that for a beer, but that was from a store, and it was a really good import. So enough of me bitching about the venue. The shows were pretty good, Jerry ran into a lot of people he knew. Myslef I didnt see a damn soul I knew. I figured i might run into a couple people from online, or at the very lest see Kellys family. Interpol was great live. The Cure played a lot of old stuff. By the time The Cure took the stage the place was packed, i have never been to such a large concert. Its was an intresting mix of people. There were of course hordes of gothy people, a lot of young hipsters, and some older folks. there were even people that brought their kids. Jerry bought me a Curiosa tour shirt. Te whole thing wrapped up right on time at 11. It was hell getting out of the parking lot, and traffic was bad going through Deep Ellum.
