Interview and a Zoo Too

Apr 21, 2009 11:09

So I have now had both parts 1 and 2 of my job interview at Reddi Arts downtown, the art supplies/framing/printing/gifty/crafty store.  It's more upscale and more helpful than a huge chain like a Michaels, and it's been there my whole life.  They want someone for their art supplies retail section and their graphics department, and my fingers are permanently knotted from all the crossing they've been doing.  Should know by the end of the week if I get the job or not.

In other news, I went to the zoo with mom last Friday after my first interview.  It was a lovely day, and clearly every elementary school in Jacksonville decided the same thing because the zoo was PACKED.  Insanely and annoyingly so.  But there was some good things to see.  Unfortunately my camera crapped out on me, as it tends to do, so I don't have many pictures from Friday, but I still have ones for a past zoo trip, so I'm gonna post those too.  (And sorry, no LJ-cut on these.  I wanted you to see them.)

Here's from Friday, the male jaguar they have.  We saw the female and the new baby briefly, but no good pictures.

The male made noises I didn't know jaguars made, though!  He opened his mouth like he was about to pant, then made these really low, ruminant "Ooo... oo... oo" noises.  I felt like our football team (the Jacksonville jaguars) should be told that's their new war cry.  (XD)  Everybody go "OOO!"

And actually, that's the only good picture from Friday.  Here's more from the previous trip.

The giraffes could come right up to the boardwalk, but you weren't allowed to pet them.  Not even the staff were.

Even though they looked like they REALLY wanted some petting.

Then there was the [really quite large!] anaconda:

Weird warped photo, I know, through the glass and the water and all, but DAMN, it was big.  You can kinda see his nose up through the water in the corner that the rocks make, though.

And there were some freakin' awesome green mambas.

And the mighty silverback gorilla...

...who was quite the ham.  He stayed in this position for quite a long time.

Behold the power of yoga.

Cheers!  Away I go.

jax zoo, job maybe
