life/prose: the other side

The cog wheel is just off by a few seconds, and it makes the lives curious to think about.

The Guy meets Billy, the socially awkward, obviously gay guy at the midnight book selling of the 6th Harry Potter book. He gets a bad impression of Billy.

He finds the Fella who Billy is dating on bear411, and messages the Fella because he's curious what kind of guy would date Billy.

Surprised, he enjoys his chats with the Fella. He doesn't chat with the Fella for a while, as things with the partner are going towards a breakup.

The breakup happens, and shortly after, he finally meets the Fella in person. They click pretty well and hang out regularly for months, doing boyfriendly things without the title. The Fella holds off on the title because he isn't ready to have his heart broken again, and he knows that the Guy needs time to get over his partner.

The Fella goes on some dates with other guys, but eventually chooses the Guy. The officially date for a month, and right before the Fella fully gives his heart to the Guy, the Guy decides he and his partner gave up too easily. He doesn't talk to the Fella for about 5 days, and then finally lets him know that they're broken up because he's getting back with the partner.

The Fella tells the Guy that he must understand that if he leaves, he'll never be able to get him back. It's a superficial threat because the Fella knows he still really likes the Guy, and he's quite sure the Guy will have the same problems he had with the partner. The Fella also knows that the Guy has to experience this to know himself.

A little over a month passes, and the Fella meets the Supercute Virgin. They click pretty fast, but the situation is really complicated, so they can't hang out much. The Fella gets a big crush on the Supercute Virgin, which catalyzes the Fella's loss of romantic feelings towards the Guy.

Another month goes by, and things between the Guy and the partner don't work out. The Guy begins chatting with the Fella more frequently and expresses interest being romantic again. The Fella isn't sure how he feels. He tries to see if he can open his heart back up to the Guy, but it won't budge. The lock rusted over.

The Guy starts an experimental daily play for the Fella as a sweet present, but a few days later, the Fella lets the Guy know that it will never go back to how it was before. The Guy is hurt deep, and the Fella decides to give the Guy space to heal because every time they talk, it ends negatively. He stops reading the experimental play. He deletes the Guy's screen name from his buddy list. He waits for a time when they can have a friendship again.

Months pass. The Guy continues writing. He finally decides to try a friendship with the Fella again, even though his heart is still tender. They hang out a few times, and both have an enjoyable time. The Fella is still only interested in friendship. The Guy wants more, and deeply regrets choosing the partner over the Fella.

He decides to bring his experimental play to the stage for an annual festival, and asks the Fella to play the part of himself. The Fella agrees to it, and their friendship strengthens.

But soon the Fella will see the Supercute Virgin again. He really wants to make him simply just Supercute. His heart won't be given to the Supercute Virgin because he can't trust anyone with it anymore. At least, not for a ridiculously long time.
