In-Game Character Information
Name: Sora Griffith
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Age: 15.
Personality:
Sora likes making friends and can be a bit of a chatterbox without realising it, but he'll also gladly listen to someone's problems. Extremely upbeat, Sora can seem a little naïve, but he absolutely believes in what he believes in. And he wants to believe in everyone, so his unfounded trust can sometimes get him into trouble. That doesn't mean he's not smart, it just means he's not street-smart. And just because he doesn’t swear doesn’t mean he has never-ending patience. He gets frustrated, especially with Riku.
In general, Sora is the best kind of friend because he’ll always put everyone before himself. Don’t have quite enough cash? Sora’ll spot you-as long as you play him back. Having bully problems? Sora'll stand up for you-even if the bully is two times his size.
A little childish-Sora still believes in Santa Claus and cooties-but really, truly caring, Sora wants to see the light in everyone. If there is light to be found, he will find it-and there is light in everyone. And even though he may seem perpetually happy, maybe a little uncaring, Sora does know when it's time to buckle down and be serious. He knows that it isn't always fun and games-there's a time for seriousness too. And even though he can be focused, Sora tends to get distracted or sidetracked.
His sense of humour is childish, just like some of his mannerisms, so sometimes more complex jokes go right over his head. Sora hates being left out though, so it isn't unusual for him to not talk to someone (or talk to them too much) if he feels they're hiding things from him or being mean to his friends. But Sora's genuine belief in the goodness of people won't allow him to stay mad for more than a day or two usually. He'll forgive and forget, as long as you will too.
Background:
On his eleventh birthday, an owl flew into Sora's window and dropped a letter on his bed. It was kind of a surprise, but it kind of wasn't at the same time. The curtains in the kitchen accidentally getting caught on fire was kind of a sign that maybe there was something a little bit different about Sora. His parents were pretty easy-going about the whole thing, waving goodbye to Sora and sending him off, and everything was awesome until he got to the train station and there wasn't a Platform 9 and 3/4. He stood around, meeting a girl named Kairi who was also looking for the magical platform. They would have never found it if Riku hadn't shown up and showed them what to do. He stayed and chatted with them for a while and the three became fast friends.
Sorted into Gryffindor, same as Kairi and Riku, Sora continued to be good friends with them. However, jealousy grew between Sora and Riku over Quidditch and dueling (even if it was mostly on Riku's side) and the situation came to a head during Sora's fourth year. Riku and Sora had a duel of the friendly sort, and Sora, who hadn't won a practice duel in all the times they'd done them, finally won. Riku, determined to teach Sora a lesson, learned some Dark Magic and ended up really hurting Sora. They would have made up, but Riku transferred to Durmstrang not long after, and they didn't really speak much after that.
Sora wrote to Riku frequently, but his letters never made it to Riku and Sora finally decided to try and pay a visit to Riku to say that everything was cool and see? Totally all better! Unfortunately, Sora's not very good at sticking to a goal so he got a little lost trying to get to Durmstrang and he finally showed up part-way through the schoolyear. After much pleading and talking with the teachers/headmaster, he was allowed to return to Hogwarts, but he's had to do so much studying and make-up work lately that it's been a little hard to socialize with anyone. He's finally done with all that make-up work, though, so it's like he's a phoenix rising from the ashes!
(for more random tidbits, see the
factsheet)
Blood: Muggle-born.
Preferred House: Gryffindor!
Why you think they belong in this house? "The particular characteristics of students Sorted into Gryffindor are courage and chivalry." Sora's definitely got those - with some extra to spare! Also Grynffindor is totally his colors.
School Year: 5th year.
Quidditch Position: I think Sora was previously a keeper/seeker, but the position was probably taken from him because of the whole . . . Showing up after the schoolyear started thing.
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? Would love to, but the positions are filled. Alas!
Roleplay Samples
Journal Sample:
Oh gosh, I haven't used this in forever! I've been working on a project, but I'm all finished now so I can finally relax a little and go outside my room. Anyway, what's going on with everyone? Kairi, I'm sorry I haven't hung out with you lately. You're totally free to yell at me, 'cause I know you've probably been super-worried and I probably should have at least told you that I was still alive. I hope you weren't too worried, I mean. You know I sometimes get caught up in stuff.
If it makes you feel any better, my hair totally looks like a chocobo's backside right now because I can't find my hairbrush.
Roleplay Sample:
Sora stared at the parchment and sighed, tapping his quill along the edge of it. He'd written five inches about mandrakes and their uses and properties, but he needed ten. There was only so many essays Sora could write before his brain felt like it was going to explode, though, and he was quickly approaching that limit, so he sat back in his chair and stretched out. If he talked about the mythology of mandrakes and maybe some of their uses in pop culture, then he'd be able to get ten inches out of the topic. Except this wasn't muggle studies, so writing about pop culture was useless.
Drumming his fingers along the table, Sora looked in his textbook again and re-read the section on mandrakes. Right, there was an awful lot of mythology to talk about so he could just ramble about that for the last five inches. Sora was very good at rambling about things for long periods of time, and he'd probably get marked down for form . . . It didn't really matter. He was so tired of looking at the parchment and parchment in general really.
It was hard to focus on writing an essay when all he wanted was to be outside, flying. He missed being on the Quidditch, missed the wind whipping through his hair, and flying really sounded like a good idea at the moment. Sora started out the window for a long moment before looking back at his book.
No. Essay first, fun later.
