went to beaufort this weekend. that's "bo-furt" if you're wondering how it's said locally. we took a scenic tour of eastern north carolina on our way there and back - my knowledge of this end of the state is shit so it was fairly interesting. small towns, dead downtowns, farms and a lot of "split" businesses - the best being a combo car wash and estate planning center.
beaufort is a small fishing town, so we ate some fancy seafood while we were there. or at least chelsea did, i ate pizza. but it was pretty damn tasty pizza. we were there was a music festival, some shitty bands and some mediocre bands and some good bands. we went specifically to see our friends the rosebuds. good show and lots of fun. hung out with them after at some local bar until late at night, not something me and chelsea do too often.
sunday we drove out to harkers island, a formerly isolated little hamlet that is known for having funny accents (and sounding like the name of a horror movie). took a ferry to cape lookout national seashore, saw a wild horse and an old light house and it was pretty damn beautiful. then back home, picking up the dog and watching endless highlights of dallas braden's perfect game.
