it's goddamn hot here. way too hot for this time of year. goddamn stupid sun heating shit up ahead of schedule, i don't like it no sir.
had friday off so my weekend started thursday night. went and saw local faves lonnie walker play a stripped down gig, great as usual. but the real highlight were the openers from baltimore, nuclear power pants. they were some sort of goddamn new wave devo meets the residents performance thing, 8 band members, 5 in crazy neon costumes with giant heads, a singer and two girl backup singers doing synchronized moves. and a shit load of blacklights. it was a trip.
friday i ate at waffle house and then went skating and sweated a lot. dammit it was hot. and since it was hot, that night we went out for pizza and watched "hot tub time machine"...it was stupid and funny, just as expected.
saturday was tri-fold: morning chores and yard mowing. then we went to see the durham bulls play an exhibition game against their parent club, the tampa bay rays. it was a nice day and a good game, and we ate a bunch of junk food as is required at baseball games. finally, i went out to an awesome show that night, midlake with john grant of the czars opening. both were fan-fucking-tastic. 4 guitarists in midlake! 2 guys playing flutes!!! hot lixxx and blow stixxx!
sunday i finished mowing...it's a big yard. then i gave the dog a bath, which is not a euphemism for masturbating but i actually did wash our filthy dog. i played some basketball, ordered some dominos and watched "julie and julia". don't think the irony is lost on me that we ate cheap pizza while watching a movie about fancy cooking.
