A message about Zero [for Blues]

Jan 07, 2009 10:33

Hey Blues, there's something I want to talk to you about. It's Zero. What was with him acting like that? And I think you know what I mean too, with the times you yelled at him to cut it out.

Would you rather sling messages back and forth or talk about it in person?

Either one is fine with me.

Person I guess. Mind if I come over? Maybe you can show me around too?

Was that a bit of hopefulness in the text, it might be.

Come on over, I'm not busy.

I'll show you what I can without the munchkins spotting us --

On my way!

Rock teleported to the coordinates he'd used last time and glanced around for Blues or anything else of interest.

Lo and behold, a Blues! And worktables filled with what looked to be armour prototype parts --

"Got some concerns about Zero, hey?"

Well that was interesting. He'd wander closer so he could look while he talked.

"Yeah. Um, he looked ready to... eat the Robot Masters at times. Forte too. His threat and what he was doing to that guardian bot doesn't really help that image. And it's.... creepy."

Shiny armour -- looks like its designed to have extra layers, yet thinner ones. Some of it happened to be blue, too.

Pulling up a chair and plunking himself into it, Blues sighed and smiled as he raked a hand through his hair.

"Somehow, I'm not surprised that's the issue."

"Believe it or not, he wasn't going to actually attack the Robot Masters; the problem is, for Zero curiosity often looks like Hunting You. Forte on the other hand he'd chew on in a heartbeat."

"But yeah, he'll scavenge if you don't keep an eye on him and I've seen him pull apart freshly-deactivated mechaniloids. And yeah, it's creepy as hell. You can blame Wily if you want."

If he hadn't learned early on the rule of No Touchy, Rock might be poking at said armor, but he kept his hands to himself as he walked around the table.

"I see. Well, nothing wrong with scaring a few Wilybots. But I don't want him going after Forte like that again. If he just wanted to beat him up..... well, it'd save me the trouble. But I don't want him to over do it or kill him, jerk or no."

"I think I will. It sounds like something Wily would do to mess with people."

Watching Rock play the No Touchy game gave Blues no end of amusement, and he resolved to lift the ban on poking things once their discussion was finished.

"I've already given him a warning about Forte, but I'm not about to chew him out for attacking him either. Based on his own experiences it was a warranted reaction, sad at that is to say."

"Damn right it was. Wily wanted something that would freak you out when you had to fight it."

That would make one happy techybot.

"Oh, I don't blame him if he was only reacting based on his own Forte. I've had trouble with that myself in the past. I just wanted to make sure he knows not to kill the guy."

"He does that a lot. Did, I mean did that a lot. And he was very good at it, I hate to admit."

"Oh, he knows; I warned him then and I'll warn him again if it comes to that. Zero's good at forgetting and not thinking, is all. He's a good kid but he's not always that sharp, poor blonde bastard."

"Anything else I can explain for you? Or show you, for that matter?"

"Eh, he'll learn. Especially with you around."

"I don't think so? I was just worried about Zero really. But I'd still like to be shown around if that's not too much trouble?"

"Heh. I don't really expect him to drop the habit of scavenging, unfortunately -- and I don't think smacking him with a newspaper will help much ~"

Getting up from his seat again, Blues grinned.

"Not at all. We can start with the project currently scattered over the workstations, if you want -- those are armour upgrade parts for Xavier. And our Rock too, assuming we could ever get him back into armour ..."

"Maybe not, but better control of it could be learned over time I think."

Rock got a grin that clearly said that starting here was perfectly fine by him.

"Your Rock- he's.... retired?" It almost seemed impossible to Rock by now.

"It's less needing control and more needing self-control. He's stubborn about it because he likes it."

Calling up the armour specs on a console if Rock wanted to see them, Blues nodded.

"He's been retired for a number of years now; there wasn't any need for him not to be. And then the Quint thing happened."

"Xavier and Zero keep a lid on things. Rock deserves to be more productive these days -- it's something you might be able to look forward to, hey?"

"Maybe someone should feed him before missions?"

Rock frowned at Quint's mention; Quint made him uncomfortable. But the armor specs were a good distraction. "I think that even if I do get a chance to retire, I'll keep the armor. As a safety precaution. Besides, as sad as it may be, it's kind of become a part of me. I think it'd feel weird not to have it."

"So people don't know he's still around?"
