A Quick Observation

We just had the opening ceremony for the new first year students. During the ceremony, one of the South American girls caught my eye and gave me a smile on the way back to her seat. It was funny because it was kind of like a secret smile. Like we understand something that the majority of the people in that room don't, or maybe it's the other way around, they understand something that we don't, either way, it comes down to the fact that we aren't Japanese. It got me thinking and it occurred to me that more often than not, I root for the success of the non-Japanese kids in school way more than the success of the others.

I can only think of one exception to that, and he's at my other school. His dad is apparently English and his mom is Japanese and he seems to have no desire whatsoever to speak his father's language. It also annoys me that it seems his father has never bothered to teach him anything either. So really, what bugs me about this kids is probably the doing of his parents and isn't really fair, but it seems like such a waste to me. Then again, no, I don't know his family situation, blah blah blah. It's my blog and I can be judgmental if I want to.

Anyway, just wanted to share that with you. I know I haven't been very good about writing recently. I'll try to be better.
