Let's all just pretend I was on an amazing trip and far too busy to write. Ok? In actuality I was doing a whole lot of nothing very interesting, and yet surprisingly busy. I went to the gym every day and usually saw a friend or two in the evening. I also cleaned up my apartment a bit, and sold some more things at the used-goods store. I got drunk with Rumiko and Chinami, had a bbq, and hosted Mike, a friend from the U of Iowa, for a night. Pictures will be on flickr soon.
Today is my first day back at West. The teachers greeted me very well this morning and the best news of all, I have my desk back by the door again. The only problem with it is that the principal and vp are directly behind me so I have to be more careful about what is on my computer. But it's now that much easier to make a run for the door in the afternoon. I have two "new" teachers. One is Tomita sensei, and he was here my first year for about 3 months or so. He is young and not a real teacher, but on contract for the year. When he was here the last time he never spoke to me and never taught with me, so we'll see how it goes. The other is Kobayashi sensei, an older guy who came from John's school. He sits diagonally across from me and seems nice, and so far has kept me very well informed for the first hour of school, so I think we'll get along well.
So that is two new men and two women from before. I just went to check, that's only 4 teachers, surely I hadn't met someone yet. Nope. We only have four English teachers this year, so that means no team teaching! Before there were two Japanese teachers and me in some classes, three teachers. There'll be no more of that, and that is fine and dandy with me. Ch-ch-ch-changes.
I have to say, I'm in a pretty good mood for the first day back. It's probably because Mr. Meany is gone. I should mention, he sent me an email, should I type it in for you?
"Hi, the 3rd luck came true FINALLY!!! I've got transferred to X JHS in Kofu!! So I won't be seeing you at the West F&*$# school for good, It's been so nice working with you even though sometimes I might have given you some headaches, so thank you for bearing with me. No matter where we are, we're still good friends. Keep in touch as long as we're alive, Ok? Whenever you come down to Kofu for some reason, especially for some socialization let me know. I'll be there! Talk to you soon!"
So he's happy, I'm happy and probably, not working together, I wouldn't mind going drinking with him. He's an intelligent, amusing guy, when you aren't in class!
So that's about it. Hopefully the next 4 months will pass painlessly.
And apparently I have a NEW supervisor. No one's told me yet, but I just asked. That makes 4 in three years. Seriously people. I'll go over in a bit and see who it is, I guess. Nothing like continuity.
