Not Quite There Yet.
It's 3:15am. Please excuse any typos. I've been awake since 7am on Monday, in Japan. It's now Tuesday night there. I'd guess somewhere around 40 hours. With a nap on the plane and an hour nap just now. I'll be leaving for the airport in half an hour or so, I couldn't sleep, afraid I'd oversleep, so I got up.
I had an absolutely amazing flight from Tokyo to Chicago, and wonder of wonders, it was with United Airlines!! I haven't had a good international flight with them since my FIRST trip to Japan, over 10 years ago. The flight attendants were lovely, dispensing whole cans of beverages without even being asked. They were polite and nice and joked around and honestly, I couldn't believe it! My one complaint was the lack of individual television screens, but since I was trying to sleep, I didn't mind so much. I even got two seats to myself because the flight was pretty empty. Lovely.
Of course I had a minor delay in Chicago, what else? But I made it into Tokyo* before 7pm. We stopped off at Target for my first dose of American consumerism in about 17 months. Then we drove back to Mtown. Unfortunately the phone I ordered never arrived, so I went out to Walmart to get another, around 10pm. It's activated and ready to go, except, it won't work and customer service isn't open at night. Grrrr. So hopefully I can get that straighted out after I get to Nancy's.
That's about it, I guess. I realize that I am crazy for this schedule, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Next post will be from NYC!
