So I am not freaking out about what I want "to do with my life" but with registration coming up, it would be good to have an idea since I have essentially two paths I am thinking about which are similar, yet alarmingly different. Thoughts?
Option One:
Pre-Med via a Biology Major. I could do this in four years. I would have a bio major like every other pre-med, but I could do an internship down in the cities fall my junior year (If I get accepted) which would cover gen-eds, be great experience/fun, and look great on apps. I could also graduate with honors and have a chem minor. It would be fairly easy in comparison to option two but......
Option Two:
Pre-Med via a Nursing Major: This would require me to take courses this summer in order to be accepted into the program so I could get out in four years. It would also require me taking an additional summer or two of classes to get gen eds out of the way because I won't have room with the Med School requirements. I am planning on getting those gen eds done from Lake Superior College, a local tech school (the credits transfer.) It seems a bit redundant to do my liberal arts elsewhere since that is what the private college is essentailly about; however, Scholastica has a great nursing program so I won't be screwing myself. With this option I could obtain my RN after 4 intense years. Work in hosptials, travel with an agency, make some hella cash and even go around the world. I figure I will either love it so much that I will continue doing it (more power to me) or else I will decide to go to Med School having only to get accepted, and that shouldn't be a problem at that point since I will have had experience as a nurse and an obvious passion to become a doctor. I am thinking rural family practice D.O. but I'm flexible.
The latter option is rigid and I'm not sure if I want to pursue it. The former it more cookie cutter and at this point I'd like to break from the mold. A part of me also wants to transfer elsewhere and get my education degree and teach like the crazy. So much to think about and surprisingly there is little time. Option Two is only available for a very, very limited amount of time.....
