I was totally out-of-touch with internetland for the past week when I was in Texas visiting my sister and her family. So, here's a few little highlights of the trip...
-Lots of quality time with the wonderful Celena. She's 7 1/2 months old, and unbelievably cute. She's growing up really fast, which is kind of a good thing because I'm looking forward to the day when she understands that it's not okay to rip Aunt Molly's glasses off of her face and pull her hair... We got lots of great pictures of her (it was like paparazzi at the park), which I'll put on flickr soon. Stay posted.
-Nebraska/Michigan Alamo Bowl game. Holy crap. Bryson is from Michigan, and the rest of us (Mom, Dad, Melissa, me) are obviously from Nebraska. The room was decorated with streamers - red on the NE side, yellow and blue in the "Michigan" zone (which we were not allowed to walk through). Celena wore her Husker outfit, and Bryson wore blue tights! But it was still a football game on tv, and therefore still boring. I fell asleep during the 4th quarter and woke up to the woo-hoos when it became apparent Nebraska would win. Go Huskers... I guess. :)
-Forced to wake up at 7:30 every morning after sleeping on an uncomfortable couch, then forced to watch back-to-back episodes of Carol Duvall (a craft show) on HGTV. Did I mention I'm glad to be home? ;)
-The last night there, the 5 of us (Celena was in bed) played cards and drank 4 bottles of wine, 3 shots of cinnamon vodka, and 3 shots of tequila between us. That is a lot of alcohol! My parents were a little hung over, but I was fine. Oh the joys of being twentysomething!
-December weather in Texas rules! I got hot walking to the park in jeans and a t-shirt. Then I came home and nearly died of hypothermia going out to get my mail. This sucks. I want it to be spring.
All in all, I had a great Christmas week! Looking forward to a semi-low-key New Year's celebration tomorrow. Hope everyone also had a good Christmas, and have a fun and safe New Year's Eve!
