I had to run an errand this morning and while I was waiting for my friend to come back and pick me up, I was waiting in the Dunken Donuts that was part of the local walmart and people watching. Which quickly turned into "making up stories about the people I was watching."
Here are some of the highlights
- One guy (Joe) was on the run with his estranged brother (Ray). They hadn't spoken in several year, since their parent's death but Ray is wanted for murder (he was waiting in the car) but insists he was framed by the pseudo-mafia group he was working with. Joe, who promised his parents he'd watch out for his brother but didn't was guilt-tripped into taking his brother and heading out on the run for Canada from Rhode Island. He was really nervous the whole time he was buying coffee because the cashier was taking forever and he was worried he'd been recognized. He still isn't sure his brother is telling the truth.
- Another woman (Tessie Jo) who had three cartons of milk in her cart has twenty six cats at home and thirteen million dollars in the bank. She's won it all from mail advert give-aways and lottery tickets. She has absolutely no idea how much that's really worth so it just sits in the bank. The little local bank branch, who would have no reason to expect any of their customers to have so much money, just assumes there's been a mistake with the printer adding a few more zeros. Tessie Jo has already written her will leaving it all to her cats.
There were more but they got increasingly ridiculous (like Rowena Fahal, also known as Shadow Girl, also known as the nanny for the superheroes Stormcloud and The Mask's children. When rogue troops came and attacked the house, Shadow Girl had to get the kids out (a process severely inhibited by the fact that both manifested their powers upon seeing their mother attacked by masked men - the baby burst into flame and the toddler's screams shattered every pane of glass in the house). Unsure whether the parents were alright or not, Shadow Girl now spends most of her time trying to keep the toddler from crying and attempting to get hold of the SOA [superheros of America])
Yeah... I really shouldn't drink coffee in the morning.
