I had so much fun Saturday night putting up the pendulum--I decided to hang it from one of the beams in the lower part of the barn, and not to try and hang it from one up in the loft. Foucault's first one was only about six feet long because he put it up in his basement anyway, so I can be simple with this first one.
Chip held the bowling ball while I used the drill too get the eyebolt started. He wanted to use the drill but I said it was more dangerous to hold the ball so he was happy. I did let him go up the ladder to put in the holder for the cable because I am afraid of heights but there were plenty of places we could hang to cable so it didn't matter if he messed it up.
We all watched the pendulum move for a while but the others got bored so I set up the video camera and we went inside the house.
Mall and Uncle Charley and Aunt Harry got home about 1AM from the dance and Mall says it was very nice and no one behaved too badly, or if they did it wasn't too obvious. Then Sunday one of Rupert's friends called because he was stuck in a cave and Aunt Harry was very upset. After that Mrs Roberts called because when she got into town Mr. Roberts was gone and still hadn't come home and when she called she could reach him. I think she called the police after she talked to Aunt Harry because they came by the house this morning to talk to Uncle Charley and Aunt Harry. Aunt Harry says I have to talk to them after school and so does Mall but she will be there too.
If Mr. Roberts is in the hospital do I have to keep rewriting my essays? I guess I had better because it would be cheating not to do them at all, in case he died or something.
