To Cry a River

Jul 14, 2011 01:13

Hey everyone! Just wanted to do a short 1/1 based on the movie "The River Wild". I had always noticed the weird way Wade always acted towards Gail and thought there might have been an extra meaning behind the line "I can do whatever I want with you". I'd been thinking about making a story out of this for a while now, so here it goes. Let me know what you think :)

Warning: plot ruiners for those who haven't seen the film and violence. Read at your own risk. Oh, and sadly, none of these characters are owned by me :P

She had thought that it was just a bit of harmless flirting. A chemistry between them that would never be acted upon.

Her blonde hair lay tangled and wet from tears beneath her, as she looked at her only savior now. Roarke was asleep, his sweet face also streaked with tears. It was a miracle that he had fallen asleep at all after last night. She was barely coping as a grown woman, let alone a twelve year old boy who had just lost his father. She wanted to reach out and caress his soft cheek, but her hands were tied firmly together with a bit of rope that was constantly scratching at her wrists.

She had to keep her hope alive, though. Her baby was still alive and he needed her. She would endure any horrific thing that they came up with if it meant that Roarke wouldn't be harmed. And there was a small chance that Tom might still be alive too, she kept telling herself. She had to keep believing it if she were to make it through this.

She tried to shift closer to her son, but another, thicker rope was wound around her waist. She let a few more tears fall from the frustration.

She was frustrated as hell, and not just because she was constrained so tightly.

Why did she have to go opening her big mouth? She had tried to call his bluff and lost miserably. How could she have missed the tension ratiating from him? If only she had known it would come to this she would never have stayed with them on the river as long as she did. Tom had been right, she thought, and the image of him flooded her mind and drew fresh tears to her eyes.

She had thought that it was just a bit of harmless flirting. And just a few hours ago she had been proven wrong.

She still felt dirty. She couldn't get his taste out of her mouth. And she had brought it on herself.

Show me  she had said. And show her he did.........

"I can do anything I want with you"

She didn't miss the underlying meaning in that statement. He stared down at her. She had to crane her neck to look up into his face because of their close proximity.

This man had ruined her life. He had threatened her family and the very existence of all of them. She could hardly fathom that Tom might be floating down the river, dead. The only thing she had cared about was keeping them all alive. And now he was very confidently telling her that he had shot and killed her husband.

She knew that Roarke still needed her to get them though, but in her devastated and frightened state of mind she had challenged him.

"Then go ahead", she said, keeping their eye contact, "Don't keep telling me how tough you are, Wade, just....show me"

Wade may have been pretending to be the aggressive, dominant leader, but she could see through him...or so she thought. He was weak; he didn't have the guts to follow though with his threats. He had made Terry kill Frank, she knew it. Something had kept him from putting his heart into his words. That might have been a small indication that he was human and that he feared killing another human being, even if it was just the fear of prison or hell that kept him from doing it. But he was soooo sure that Tom was dead; all because of him.

Wade stared down at her, hard, challenging her back. He looked as if he were debating something, as if he were about to break.

"Get up", he ordered her, taking a step back, out of her space so she could stand.

She obeyed, slowly moving to a standing position in front of him, her eyes still as cold and deadly as they had been a few moments before.

He grabbed a handful of material from the back of her sweatshirt and steered her off into the woods, the gun lightly pushed into her back to keep her from protesting. He took her about a quarter of a mile down the river and stopped in a small grassy area surrounded by tall weeds.

He released his hold on her and gave her the once over. Gail's heart was beating so hard she could hardly breathe. He wouldn't kill her, would he? He needed her to get them past the gauntlet and she was his only option.

"Finally alone", he said, lowering the gun to his side as she stood dumbfounded. "I know you want this just as much"

Wade moved towards her, leaning down to place a kiss on her neck.

She was terrified. Chills ran down her spine, and not from the attention he was showing her throat.

"I don't, Wade", she said. He rose back up, looking at her thoughtfully, the way he did. "You disgust me and I meant what I said.....I'm going to kill you"

He grinned at her, his shit eating smart ass grin. "Well I'm the one with the gun, Gail, besides....", he stepped closer, "...I'm not scared of you"

He reached out and caressed her face like he had tried to do earlier that day. This time she didn't pull away, afraid of the consequences.

"I won't listen to you, Wade. You need me". She looked down at her feet, in thought, "You're just going to kill us both after we get down the river anyway..."

"Hmmmm...that's an interesting thought", he said patronizingly, "But how bout this. If you don't go by my rules, poor little Roarke will suffer from that mistake".

Gail's mouth hung open, disbelievingly. "If you kill him, you might as well kill me. I'll make sure you drown in that river tomorrow", she threatened him back.

"Who said anything about killing him?"

Oh no. There went her last argument for leverage. She had nothing else saving her. She simply would not put Roarke in danger, even if Wade was bluffing about hurting him. She could risk it when it was her safety, but not his, no chance in hell.

Wade touched her chin with his thumb, making her freeze. He lent down and placed a light kiss on her mouth. She kept her eyes open. So did he.

When he peeled her jacket off her shoulders she closed her eyes, trying to focus on breathing evenly. Then he maneuvered them both to the ground and sat up on his knees to unbuckle his jeans.

She couldn't bear to even look in his direction, so she kept her eyes closed. Her stomach was in knots. Her heart in her throat.

"I think you've been playing games with me this whole time, Gail", he said, "teaching me fly fishing, all that flirting, practically stripping when you knew I was watching"

That made her eyes pop open in shock. "No I did not. You make me sick!", she yelled.

He looked at her and cocked his head to the side as if taking in what she had said, but not believing it or maybe just not giving a shit.

"Whatever you say. Either way it's my call", he replied, reaching out for her sweatpants and pulling them down, along with her underwear. Gail reached down to prevent it from happening, trying to cover her modesty again. "No! Stop!", she said in panic.

He had already slid in between her legs, however and he was just inches from her center.

Wade stopped at the last minute. "Come on, white water. No point in fighting it now, Tom is dead", he paused, leaning down and sniffing her hair, "And we're alone. No one will know".

She didn't even reply. She started struggling, using her arms to try and push him away. "Uhhghhh", she groaned as she used all her strength to no avail.

He was too quick, using his own hands to stop hers from moving and entering her slowly.

"Noooooooooo.........God nooooo.....", Gail moaned in defeat. She attempted to move her pelvis away from his thrust, but only succeeded in grinding her hip on a rock.

He started moving slowly in and out of her. Tears cascaded down her high cheekbones and she turned her head to the side to avoid seeing his face, even though her eyes remained closed tight in despair.

Soon his breathing became labored and he quickened his pace, making a few satisfied grunts every now and then.

She couldn't stop herself from crying, it kept coming out, bringing her almost to the point of sobbing. "Ple--eeasseee", she begged, her face scrunched up in pain, "stoppp........ohh....please......."

Her pleas got her nowhere. Wade placed his lips next to her ear. "You're an amazing woman", he repeated, kissing her jaw line a few times.

She sobbed harder. He pumped harder.

Finally, he opened his mouth in an expression that looked almost painful, but no sound came out and he ejaculated deep inside of her, slumping back down on top of her when he finished riding out his orgasm.

He lifted himself slightly off of her after a minute and held her face in his hands, wiping away the tears.

Somehow, Gail felt that the action was insincere after everything he'd put her through and it was very unwanted. She shook her head wildly, trying to throw him off.

"Now, now. Don't be like that", he soothed her, mockingly.

"Get away from me! Don't touch me!", she screamed in his face. He held her hands firmly in his own, then slowly released them and pushed himself off the ground. He stood up and zipped up his pants, pulling the gun out from behind his back and pointing it at her.

"I'm still the one with the gun, Gail. Now get up", he ordered, fed up with her resistence to him.

She did as she was told, pulling her pants up as quickly as she could manage and heading back in the direction of their campsite, without waiting for him.

But he fell in step beside her and they walked back together. She went straight into the tent and he lingered by the fire for a moment before ordering Terry to tie her back up.......
