First, a hearty welcome to all of our banner makers.
Thanks so much for volunteering to help out with our awards. If you want to make banners but aren't listed above, just comment to this post and I will give you posting access to this community. If you don't have an LJ account I can give you the password to a "guest" account I have set up for MEFA banner-makers.

Now, to get things started, how about a challenge? For the next two weeks, try to make a few banners and icons that feature a nature theme - woods, rivers, the sea, mountains, and so on. They can involve characters or general landscapes are fine as well.
Of course you can post banners and icons that don't match that theme as well. Have at it! To get things started, here is my own submission:

A few quick reminders on the rules for banners.
- All banners must include the phrases "MEFA" (or "Middle-earth Fanfiction Awards"), "2011", and the kind of banner it is. For nominee banners that would mean the word "Nominee."
- Banners should be roughly one of the following sizes: 350x100 pixels; 290x150 pixels; 110x70 pixels; or 100x100 pixels
- Banners should not use copyrighted material. Bad = fanart, professional Tolkien illustrations, and other artistic elements that aren't in the public domain. Good = LOTR movie screencaps, public stock photos (like from http://www.sxc.hu/), or your own fan art. Text-only banners are of course welcome as well.
- Banners should be posted to a site that allows hotlinking so authors can use the banner easily.
