I think it's definitely an improvement. All the precious options are there, just better, and there's many new options too and more autonomous interactions than the previous version. I quite like the setting for 'ideal number of kids', which go towards either raising or lowering the chances of a sim trying for baby, based on how many kids they already (don't) have. The autonomous first kiss is also fun, if vaguely annoying at times, and the 'friend zone' is useful if you really want two sims to keep their hands off each other.

Jealousy works fine, most sims will be jealous only if engaged/steady/married, some romance sims at married only and some not at all, while most family sims get jealous when in love.

The only thing I haven't quite been able to figure out is when married sims decide whether they are willing to cheat or not. Peter Ottomas and Stella Roth refused to have any ACR interactions with each other, I had to set them up with the regular interactions. Leod McGreggor, on the other hand - a knowledge sim - had no problem ACR-kissing another woman at a party, despite being married to Tara (who seemed to miss it, thankfully). Perhaps it's more personality based than aspiration based. Some of them won't even "cheat" if they're in love with someone else.

...by 'precious' I mean 'previous'. They keys are like, right next to each other! :P

Thank you for indulging me again.

I'm going to keep this in mind should my game start to get boring.

(oh, can you still just "turn off" jealousy sim by sim--so you could have a family sim who's not jealous despite being in love?)

Yeah, you can. There's the option to set a sim's settings as either dynamic or... static, I suppose. I always have it on dynamic, which makes ACR automatically set everything according to a sim's personality/aspiration and "correct" it after a while if you change it, but if you set it to not-dynamic I get the impression nothing changes unless you do it yourself.
