Separate entry for this, because it doesn't have to do with bowling. So, the other day, I flipped the calendar at work to December. And discovered that it was Hanukkah today and tomorrow. Now this wouldn't affect me, normally, but the one lawyer at work is Jewish. I turn to my boss Diane and ask what they usually do because she was just as stunned as I was that Hanukkah was so soon. I asked if Jennifer was celebrating it this and Diane simply shrugged. I guess Jen is an on again/off again Jew. I know they exchange gifts closer to the traditional Christmas (read: holiday) time, but wouldn't it be thoughtful to get her something on Hanukkah. I kind of painted myself into a wee bit of a corner by bringing up the idea and taking over the project. I really don't know how to by a Hanukkah gift. Can you buy something that's seasonal? There are NO Hanukkah themed gifts. And then what do you buy a lawyer on top of that? I went to Meijer briefly and they had nothing! I could have gone with some chocolates or popcorn tins, but that just says, "Hey I went to Meijer at the last minute, here's some Whitmans." Actually, as I'm sitting here bumming out that I have no gift -- I could go to Starbucks in the morning and get some sort of mug-thing plus fancy coffee, etc. Coffees pretty neutral and she drinks coffee. Okay, that's what I'll do. I'll get up tomorrow and go to Starbucks. It'll be cool. I need to go to bed now though and set my alarm. Mm. Delicious coffee in the morning. It's like Hanukkah for me!
