Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving. May you have lots of great food and someone to share it with. John's parents are coming into town, so I'm staying home tomorrow to give the house a good clean and do all the chores that I put off because I really dislike them (like dusting a vacuuming). Since Andrea started the list of what we're thankful for, I thought I would continue the trend. I actually gives thanks for these things every night before I go to sleep, mostly to remind myself how good I actually have it and to make sure that I don't take them for granted. But, I can be especially thankful for them on this particular holiday. So my nightly mantra includes:

Great family and friends (So many people do not know the comfort and joy of being surrounded by people who love and care for them, no matter how much they screw up. I have been blessed with a great support system.)

A wonderful, loving husband (Someone who is a best friend, partner in everything, and a great father to our kids.)

My education and the opportunities that I have gotten because of it (Despite how much I complain about being in school, not everyone gets the education they want and/or deserve. I have had a lot of great experiences that I would have missed otherwise and hopefully it will open doors for me.)

I'm thankful for the roof over my head, the clothes on my back, the food on my table, and a comfortable place to sleep (I think these are things that are easily taken for granted. While I've not always slept in the most comfortable places or eaten food that was to my liking - think collecting trips for those who have gone on them - I have never had to sleep on a sidewalk when the temps were in the teens or gone days, weeks, or even months without a decent meal. Selfishly, I hope neither my family nor I will have these experiences.)

I'm thankful for Erin, a happy, healthy little girl who brings so much joy (This one goes without saying. She has been a true blessing in our life!)

And of course right now I'm thankful that the pregnancy is progressing well with no complications and Moira appears to be healthy (Now I just have to pray for an easy labor and delivery, an epidural that works, no complications, and a healthy baby when it's all over.)
