This is the last movie of the whole summer of 35mm that they're doing. Last weekend it was A Clockwork Orange. Which was a freaking weird as hell movie (I saw it for the first time last weekend). I've enjoyed the offerings from The Tower this summer. There were a few that I had to miss out on which I wish I hadn't.
But this weekend is The Goonies. A movie I pretty much grew up with. I remember watching it over at my cousin's place and we would all act out various scenes from the movie and go on our own explorations. Unfortunately, there wasn't really any place that cool to visit unless you had a car that day. And our parents were getting tired of driving us up the canyon to go exploring. But it was all fun anyway. I really love this movie and can't wait to see it in 35mm!!
If for some strange reason you haven't seen this movie, do the following:
1. Slap yourself across the face a couple of times.
2. Go rent the movie or download a torrent
3. Slap yourself again for good measure
4. Watch movie
In that exact order.
So to anyone who is here in Salt Lake who would like to get a nice group together for this movie, please comment. Strangers are welcome too. The crowd for A Clockwork Orange was huge last weekend. I expect The Goonies to be even bigger.
As always:
Meet at the Coffee Garden between 11:30-11:55 (or come earlier if you want. I might show up a lot earlier this weekend).
Obtain tasty beverages from coffee garden.
You can bring the drinks into the theatre with you! Please throw away your empty cups at the end of the film!!
If we get a big enough crowd, foodstuffs at IHOP down on 21st South and 3rd West. Just off the I-15/201/I-80 junctions.
Please comment if you plan on going. I actually have that day off from work so I'll probably be smashing arrows somewhere before going to the movie.
This is going to be fun!!
So how about Friday Night then? (29th)
