Sorry I've been so quiet lately- just haven't felt like being on the computer for a while, I guess. Every once in a while, I get the urge to stay off the computer for several days and do other stuff. Have been sorting a bunch of papers, reading several good books, listening to more music, running around the track.
Had a nice weekend. Came home on Friday, ordered Chinese food and watched "The Wedding Banquet", then just went to sleep early. Definitely needed it! Went to calligraphy on Sat. afternoon, am learning more kanji, more complicated ones- shi (city), nen, goka, onna. Went downtown for lunch afterward, just relaxed and read. Picked up coffee, came home, checked the mail, found two welcome surprises! One was a package of doujinshi from Japan, five Saiyuki and one FMA. Ed is just so delicious with really long hair... and some of Roy's expressions were rather endearing. N, thanks for the Sezuka Ai recommendation- very pretty, indeed. The second was an unexpected package from
tameiki1; Loveless 3 & 4! Thank you so much! Will enjoy watching them tomorrow evening... should tide me over until the next couple are subbed... ^_^
Spent a little time admiring pretty boys, then got dressed for a Pacific Rim Music Festival concert. The first half featured a pianist named Aki Takahashi, one of Japan's premiere interpreters of new music. The second half was a "sneak preview" of a new piece called Manzanar, a three-movement commemoration of the Japanese American internment. It was commissioned several years ago by the CA state librarian as part of an effort to promote freedom, liberty, and tolerance. Kent Nagano directed the Berkeley symphony- he's just amazing! It was a very moving work, and I was glad to have heard it.
Went downtown for coffee after the concert, just read a book and thought for a while. Saw the cute British boy in Lulu's, talked to him for a bit. Got several compliments on my new dark blue velvet shawl (
tendyl, you know the one....). Came home, read "American Fuji" for a couple hours, fell asleep. Talked to mom on Sunday, sorted papers, watched videos, read, just relaxed.
Stayed late at work on Monday to help a patron move some artwork, but he cancelled at the last minute, so I went to the restaurant on campus to have a soda and finish a book. Ended up meeting a neat girl who also loves manga, anime, yaoi, etc. We had a nice hour of spontaneous fangirling, then I headed home for more sorting, reading, sleeping. I think this week will be kind of low-key. Have been going out too much lately.
