It's our open Saturday for the month, and I'm at work, monitoring a group of visitors who have come to see the photo exhibit before it comes down. There are several huge ornamental cherry trees outside the window; they started blooming in early March, and they're now on their way out. The wind and recent rain have removed many of the petals from their branches, scattering them all over the dark grey patio like a pale pink silk carpet. I love the shocking contrast of the trees against the dark green and brown redwoods that surround them- they liven up the dreary winter months here, and give us a lovely view.
