Human: The Horrible Death

My friends and I had been playing a campaign of Hunter: The Reckoning (made by the lovely people at White Wolf before they made their new World of Darkness) for about a year, when we had a free night and no game to play with the group of people we were with.
Tony, our most Evil and Bastardly DM designed a new game for us, which we have only played that one night, but still talk about years later.
Human: The Horrible Death.

Set in the old World of Darkness by White Wolf, you play ordinary humans in a world like our own, but darker, with all the monsters etc from legend.
Unlike Hunters, who are imbued with 'power' to fight these supernaturals, the Humans in this game get nothing.
They are like the npc's who are always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Between the three people playing that night, we went through nine characters.

How to Play:

Pick a DM (Evil and Creative is best)

Roll up some characters. They don't have to be very deep. You're not going to have them for long.
Attributes (7,5,3)
Abilities (13,9,5)
Willpower 6ish
You can shove a couple of points into backgrounds too, if you really want to flesh out your characters.

Play. You need d10's and d6's
The game system works exactly the same as Hunter would in White Wolf.
You roll d10's. 6+ is a sucess. 1's cancel sucesses. No sucesses is a fail. No sucesses and 1's is a botch.

Your character dies if you:
~ Fail any roll (at all). Roll to recognise someone? Fail? He turns out to be a werewolf and rips your head off. You die more spectacularly if you botch.
~ Get your character into a situation where death is possible (eg - running through the darkness away from a fire, high speed car chase, etc). The DM rolls a d6. On a 5 or 6, you manage to survive. Anything else, and you get to roll up a new character.

The general way our game went was the group of people who had never met all ended up investigating together (for some contrived reason) and when one person died, someone else (the new character) would just wander in.

Looking over our old character sheets, and at the way the characters died, which I wrote over the top of them as I rolled a new character, I think we were fighting some sort of demon insect hoard.
