Does anyone remember central vacuuming systems? My uncle has one in his house, but I've never seen another place with one. Yet, I remember my mom telling me that they were common in the 80s; apparently we had such a system when we lived in NY.

My MIL has one. It's weird to me.

It sounds like the coolest thing ever!

It seems like more of a pain in the ass to me. It's like a canister vacuum, essentially. You have to plug the tube into the wall and then run it and you have to have plugs in the wall every so often so the vacuum can reach everything. And then you have this big giant canister of absolute crap in your garage. I'd much rather have a normal vacuum, thank you very much. It is much easier to wrangle.

Hrm. Also lol at it in your garage: I take it you guys don't have basements or somesuch?

No, there are no basements in Florida. That is where the water is.
