I was just reading about Diwali this year for the first time. Could you give me a general idea about how you celebrate the holiday, and in addition explain a pooja because I've been curious about that too.

Diwali, as with many holidays in Indian culture, has many stories surrounding it. There are many 'reasons' why we celebrate it, and as many mythological personae involved ( ... )

so true. i guess we never really learn to clean up after ourselves . . . it's funny how long we've known each other and this is the first time i really reamember you describing celebrating a holiday in any kind of detail . . . not that that means you never did, i guess, just that i don't remember it . . . :P

Hehe, yeah... we're not as religious as we are bound by certain traditions. Part of the fear on my family's part is that by being american and taking advantage of what that means, we may lose what it means to be indian. I'm not quite as afraid of it as they are.
