So I found an awesome place to live in Charlottesville! It is literally across the street from campus and only a 10 minute walk to the medical center. I'm sharing a two bedroom cottage with a nice girl from upstate NY, who is studying clinical psychology. I'm excited.
In other news, it came to my attention today that one of my students (who left for home last week) had a huge problem with Sikhs and told one of the other students about it. This is interesting to me because, well, a lot of my family and family-friends are Sikh. He told this other (rather impressionable) kid that Sikhs were brutal and mean and just out to get Muslims. Apparently we're all out to kill them ;)
Its just so sad to me because not a lot of average Americans know a lot about other religions like that one in particular and here is this kid spreading all sorts of strange things in place of the truth. What is worse? Ignorance or fallacy in place of ignorance?
Anywho, I just spent 50 bucks in books this weekend, so I'm going to go make good use of them and study! (Yes, 50. And yes, I'm a dork.)
