I was driving through richmond last night when the snow hit... and it was beautiful. it hit the air so suddenly that i caught three lightening strikes through the haze of cold debris and headlights, and though my car was staggering against the wind it felt like i was racing through a tunnel, much like in charlie and the chocolate factory (without creepy images floating by of course). it was kinda like a really bad anime sequence, which slowly faded to more wind and less wetness as i travelled further north. by the time i passed fredericksburg, the roads were misty with swirling snow that couldn't rest long enough to melt on the surface of the road. it finally felt like i was in December, 2004, which isn't something that has registered in my brain lately, despite my mom's birthday and the onset of my sister's semester break. even more odd was the dream-like quality last night took on my my memory when i woke up to realize that our lawn was still green and there is no snow. my only reassurance is that ice still remains on my windsheild wipers and my car is streaked in a pinkish haze.
(anime sequence... epilepsy... the machinist)
i saw the machinist while i was visiting geoff. it was incredibly creepy, especially since christian bale is in no way recognizable as the main character. i read somewhere that he had reduced his weight to 120 pounds for the role, and i very much beleive it. midway though the film i had the sinking feeling that it was going to turn out to be another fight club, but i was happy with the way the machinist ended. i would recommend watching it, but i would also warn you that you're going to want to see it more than once, but that you won't because it is so exhasting to watch it even once.
this weekend makes me smile.
back to work for me!
