Been to see
An Inconvenient Truth with naj'IwmIgh. I'm not sure how much the audience understood of the whole movie. But there definitely were reactions whenever there was a reference to Switzerland and some pictures to go with it. A recognition effect perhaps. It made me wonder whether that's that type of information/imagery that's needed for people to connect their daily lives to the global scope the movie has. Personally I found the movie came across as very sober and not at all manipulative.
Trouble is, if one really wants to move masses of people in any direction, manipulation is a necessity. Anyone giving reasons for climatic change that connect to people's imagination, even if this connection is totally illogical and/or unscientific, will have a deeper impact on people than Mr Gore does. You have to play on people's imaginations in order to reach them. And if your target audience doesn't have a viable imaginary base for your message, yet, you have to create it first. It can be done. It has been done before and it is still being done. Only not prominently for lowering CO2 emissions for all I can tell.
