Just when I think I’ve reached my capacity for dealing with this place they bring in a motherfracking chocolate fondue fountain. ANYWAY.
What with the fact that practically everyone I know was gone this weekend and those who weren’t don’t call me, I thought I’d give you a little insight into what happens when I’m left to my own devices for a whole weekend.
Friday:
Drove home from work, hitting all of the following: thunder, lightning, rain, hail and snow. Tried to call mom to tell her about the weather, but her number was busy (like who on Earth could she be talking to??). So I left to meet J-lo-sica at her house. I dorked around with the cats for a few minutes while she was running around trying to pack, charge loaner camera, etc. We headed to Kozak’s to meet Pam, Cecelia, Johnny and their friend… Matt (?) for dinner. Food = good. JBax left to continue running around. Everyone else wanted to go bowling. I bagged out, citing tendonitis (which is not a lie, but I could probably swing bowling) and went home to watch the season finale of BSG. Throughout the episode I found myself experiencing bouts of near-hyperventilation, feelings of betrayal, numbness, anger, heart twitterpations, awe, ok why not and, finally, hell yeah. I can’t think of another show that could have pulled that off. Afterwards, seeing as how I was emotionally spent and it was closing in on midnight, I went to bed.
Saturday:
Awoke from my Battlestar-enduced coma and made some tea. Sat around. Sat around some more. Etc. Took the boys to vet at 3. The new girl at the vet’s office was thrilled to see rats in the office. She told me that one of her rats is best friends with her cat. They even sleep together. Just try not to blarf with the cuteness of that. The boys got weighed (they’ve both slimmed down a bit), Noel got his nails trimmed, Liam got prodded and listened to (per usual, he had decided to stop making wheezing sounds the moment we arrived). Everyone got meds. The vet and one of the other girls told me how much they enjoyed Snow Day. They both want to be zombies in our next film. I think Dr. Dan would make an excellent homeless veteran zombie. After the vet, the boys passed out in their little wooden hut and we all headed to the Ballard Office Max to find me an office chair to replace the one Dome nearly broke his neck breaking (sorry, Dome). Not only found a chair, but also discovered a stray yogurt in my trunk from when I last went shopping. It was thankfully intact and throw-away-able. Happy with my purchase and the fortuitous yogurt intervention, I headed home. While the boys continued to recover from their ordeal in the comfort of their luxury penthouse, I put together the new chair and took apart the old one. Then I inexplicably cleaned my kitchen. Then I inexplicably sorted and put/threw away all the stuff that had been piling up on my coffee table. That’s about the time the disaster movies started up. I dragged myself out of the house into the pleasantly mild and clear early-evening and trekked up the hill. Stopped to buy a coffee (as per my mental plan), then headed to Messica and Danish’s house. After feeding and watering Tobert and Marilyn (doot doot doot doot) and opening the sliding glass door so Marilyn could take some air, I hunkered down on the couch with Tobe to watch the last hour of “The Core.” Though Tobe had never seen it before, and I could not harken back to when I had seen it on DVD to discern if it was any better, we both agreed that the special effects looked terrible on television. In the meantime it had gotten dark out. I was getting sleepy, so I took my leave of the Zooxter cats and went home, where I proceeded to sort a year’s worth of bills into date order and watch “V” until I couldn’t stay awake any longer.
Sunday:
Woke up at the ass slap of dawn (read: 9:30am) and made some tea. Sat around. Sat around some more. Watched Tron. Etc. Picked up Herr Zook and Pete at the airport around 2. Heard the first of what I’m sure will be many stories about this year’s Cinequest. I still can’t quite tell if it will reach the same level of epic lore as last year’s SeriouslySuperAwesome road trip. Time will tell. After I rid myself of the males, I went back home and inexplicably did some gardening. Nothing major, just enough to get somewhat ready for this year’s planting and coat myself in dirt. I also sanded and re-finished my poor little deck table. It looks quite a bit better, though nowhere near its original state. Borgata came over and we tried to get some Thai food delivered. They told us the deliver guy was not there that night, so we placed an order for pick up. They told us it would be ready in 20 minutes, so 20 minutes later we rolled into the restaurant. 50 minutes after that we rolled out with our food, having seen the delivery guy run in and out at least 3 times. Oh well. I met a nice elephant statue and got a kiss blown to me by an adorable little pseudo-French girl. We got home and ate and watched television for a couple hours before I turned back into a pumpkin and had to go to sleep.
Monday:
Motherfrackin chocolate fondue fountain. What???
