This weekend was spend as tourists in San Francisco. We actually left home at a decent time in the morning and went to the asian art museum. They had a pretty good indian sculpture collection and they were comparing south indian vs north indian art and were saying how they were actually two different cultures. The musuem had organized the asian countries in terms of how buddhism developed and spread through the world, so north india was first, and japan was last. By the time we got to Japan we were really hungry.

They were saying that most of the south-east asian countries were really influenced by india because at that time, india would appear to be more sophisticated and they would all try to copy the art, style, and religion from them. One exception to this was Vietnam which was much more influenced by China. The museum also had a huge collection of Jade utensils and jewelery. It was really beautiful and they had them mounted on this wall of glass so you can walk around and look at it.

There was also a special manga exhibit explaining what it is (animated cartoon with expressive faces and motions). And there was also an exhibit of Japanese woodblocks by Yokoshoi. The museum cafe food was really good too (or was it because we were really hungry). Pasi rusi arithunnu solluvanga...

We also went to the North Beach Jazz festival, but the guys on stage were actually playing raggae music at that time... And then we got coffee and 1 truffle. Cafe Arugualla (mission district) had cheap happy hour, but it was really bad food.

For my birthday, we went to Pilar (again). It was nice.
