Bi-Monthly status report
Summary / Key Accomplishments:
1) Intel Idol - Me & Akila did a 5 min version of Jathiswaram in front of Intel crowd. I'm not sure if everyone "got"/appreciated it.
2) Attended Gumbal events
* "Music Therapy" carnatic concert at Siddhi vinayaka temple in Sacramento. Went with Amitha, Suganya, & Sundari. Ended with a late-night session of Stitching a top and watching Aan Pavam.
* Went to Zokalo's with Gumbal -- Zokalo's is a posh mexican restaurant in downtown Sacramento.
3) Car stuff:
* I finally replaced the corner lights to be clear, and it looks hella cool. I was inspired by this and ordered a spoiler to install in my car.... Thinking about adding clear tail lights, but might be too gaudy.
* I also got bright yellow paint for my brake calipers -- oh yea :)
* And some rubbing compound to get that white paint off my car.
* Wednesday was Vijayadasami -- a very auspisous day in Hindu culture. It is a day for learning, and where you go and pay respects to your teachers, learn something new, etc. I went to my pattu class teacher yesterday & she allowed me to play the veenai (just the swarali-varisaigal), but it was really awesome. She said I looked like Saraswathi. Then she played for us. And then I went to my dance class and learned the 1st jathi of Varnam.
* Am learning a Gummi dance for the Oct 22 Vibha show celebrating Diwali. Dance is pretty simple, but fun. But finding a common time to meet with everyone is tough.
* Also told my mgr about the possibility of leaving for Ph.D. He was not too happy. But now am considering some alternatives just for spring semester...maybe can take partime courses in folsom then join up in summer or fall.
* got evicted from my apt -- they are turning this into Condos...so I have 60 days (dec 14) to move out. Why is everything coming together at same time??
